Coach Rhett learned to play golf in San Diego, California. Competing with the best juniors in the country, he quickly sought out premier golf instruction. Mentored first under Greg Casagranda, then under Carl Welty, Rhett began to study what the best players in the world do the same.

With the fascination of swing mechanics and what makes a great player, he began to expand his education with the golf swing. After college, Rhett played professionally (PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latin America). During this period, he worked with swing instructors: Sean Foley, Dana Dahlquist, and David Ledbetter.
​
Post professional golf, Rhett began caddying (PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour). This was the final piece to understanding player development. Course management, shot probability, and the psychological approach were invaluable lessons.
Rhett has worked very closely with childhood friend Adam Porzak to better understand junior golf development.

An elite junior development program is currently being built at Mauna Lani Golf. Colbrese Golf Performance is providing the resources necessary to develop a culture, whose principles stand on respect, integrity and a strong desire to excel on and off the course.
